I just witnessed my con actually challenge for dominance. He was always the beat up fish in the tank. He was lower in the pecking order than the Brochis Cory cats in the tank. He was more peaceful than any other fish. My FM was always 2nd in the pecking and now she is shaking in her boots. She challenged him and he wooooped her asss! I guess he got tired of being picked on for a year. Now he's 2nd and of course my big male Salvini is first. Just thought I would share because it's exciting to me!

Well it's not the best pic of him because he hates cameras. The shot does him no justice. He is a awesoem looking con with lots of blue and color. He is also getting a little nuchal hump as well. Here's another pic of my Female FM who used to be aggressive as all hell but now not so much. oh and I have a short clip of the start of the fight where they just start to go at it. I'll post it later.

I think he beat her up too bad! Now she is bumping into things and looks confused. Anybody know whats up or if she will be ok? Checked my Params. read: Ammonia 0ppm Nitrite 0 ppm and Nitrates 3 ppm. I used my dads electonic thingy tells you all the specifics in your tank gh, ph , No3, etc. etc

She looks pretty beat up.

Yeah when she ran away he grabbed her tail and shook ripping the spine off. They stopped fighting completely now. I am worried she isn't going to make the night. I don't even have a freed up QT tank to put her in. She is almost like gulping for air and I tried picking her up to get her to swim but she just goes down to the bottom and swims in a circle then stops and rest upright on the bottom.

Sounds like she isnt going to make it)= the simptoms you are discribing sound just like what happened to my male con when the dominant male con beat the crap out of him over night, inactivity, gasping for air and such. But on a better note sweet convict!

Thanks for the compliment on my little fella. I am praying she makes it . She is one of my favorite fish I have ever kept. So much personality in a Little fish. She doesn't seem to be getting any better but time will tell. He was pushing her earlier when she was resting almost like a I'm sorry I hurt you push because there was no aggression out of him. Yeah my cories never learn. They just love to get in the way, but they never get really attacked. Just those little chases every now and then.
