My friend was setting up her tank and she used this substrate (for a planted tank) p_12989_FS31740i.jpg

however, she added water to the tank and left it for few weeks without doing anything about it,no filter running ,no plants whatsoever! So now there are small larvae sort of things in the tank. and few small white worms sorta things!!!!!!! (freaking gross)..... Could anybody possibly tell me what to do regarding this! please

add plants, add filter, let it cycle and then add some snails and tiny fish when water tests good. situation will resolve itself

thank you ! do you think its planeria?

Yes, they are harmless but unsightly. And also an indicator that something in your tank is rotting. just do what ecoli73 says and the tank will be fine.

Not sure about the larvae though? What could they be?

ngehhew...what is that???

Yes, those are actual planaria. A useful component of planted tanks. Don't overfeed and they will hide most of the time. Nothing to worry about.
