Hey everyone, I just want to start a little talk about what you all think the minimum tank size for one adult average sized Oscar should be. I work at a fish store in my town and I've always told people a 75 gal is a good minimum for one full grown. Of course, bigger is always better. But on this forum and others, or heard people say minimum is 55 (which I don't agree with), 90 gallons, 100 gallons, and in a couple instances people have said one needs a 125...which I personally think is a bit overkill but I'm curious what you all think :)

IMO, at minimum a 90 gallon will suffice, but 100 Gallon is better

90 is just a 75 with more height usually... 75 is fine

An Oscar will grow very big if you give it the space to., I would go with over 100 gallon, especially if you plan on keeping it for a while, as they become accustomed to you, if you got it as a juvenille, they will eat food right out of your hand. I kept oscars in the past and had alot of fun feeding them by hand, good luck !!!

75 is fine but if you could do a 90 I would. It may not give extra room but it does give extra water volume which is always good.

75. 18" oscars only exist in people's imaginations.

I've heard a lot of what you're talking about, some people say that they have had oscars grow to be 18 and even 20 inches but I find that very hard to fathom lol. Seem like 75-90 gallons is good for a solo O from what you guys are saying👍 with larger never hurting of course
