we have 30 in a 55gal, 60 in a 125, 150 in a 75 (1-3in. growout), 50 in another 75, and a few 35gals with 50-60 fry in each. the 35s have air filters but the the bigger tanks all have a minimum of 2 emperor 400s on each. fx5 and emperor 400 on the 125. we like to keep our tanks overstocked to reduce aggression and make good use of space. it does take a bit of finness to keep the tanks peacefull and get the right mix for each tank. just make sure to keep up with water changes and watch for excessive aggression.

which tank are your fry coming out of? the 30 in a 55?

no they are breeding much better in the 125! got about 9 different species breeding in there at the moment ( ob peacock, red zebra, kenyi, electric yellow, thickskin, golden mbuna, so far) soon to be hopefully blue ahli, blue dolfins, borleyi.... have had a few females holding in my 55 from our ruby red but the females ate the fry :(
also the 30 in the 55 only includes about 5 adults rest are small...

Father forgive me... it has been a longtime since my last confession......

Hey wait a minute...!!! I'm not Catholic...!!!!!

When my sister came up from FL at Christmas and stayed at my mom's house, where I had set up a 110G, (and kick myself everytime for not doing a 150G!!!!!!!) The first thing out of her mouth was "What the @#%&***%%#! is up with that tank...? I said, it cool huh... relaxing isn't it....?

She said relaxing.....!!!!!!!!!!

Yes... due to my mom's over feeding... (Funny, growing up as a "latch key kid" she almost never feed me...!!!) I had t preform numerous water changes..... Which I later found out was a signal to spawn......!!!!!

So, yes... in her btank I am overstocked with many juvies... next month i am going to remove many of them and set up a 55G in her office and I am going to take some for my 125G....

I am so glad that I am not the ony one...!!!!! (Hence the name...!) But seriously... don't they do better in terms of aggression when they are somewhat overstocked....????

mm

PS/ If there was a 1,000,000,000 gallon tank... and my sister was in it... it would be overstocked.....!!!!!!! Ha...!
