Thanks guys, I am glad you like the videos.

I haven't watched the videos just yet (will in a bit), so I apologize if this was already covered in the video, but can you give suggestings for a first hot in each general family of venomous snakes? By that I mean what would you suggest for a first viper, first arboreal, first elapid, etc.?

There are a lot of factors that play into this. I feel like if you have done your research and taken the time to learn properly then you should not have a problem with any snake (with the exception of a few that demand very experienced keepers). Instead f answering this one myself, I will give you a link to the SHHS forum where you can see a bunch of different opinions on this subject:

Try searching this forum for "first hot" or something along those lines. You should get lots of hits.

Thanks! I'm curious, what led you to keep the species that you currently do? What was your first hot and again what were the deciding factors in choosing that species as your first?

I started with eyelash vipers like many because they were simply so beautiful and not the most toxic. As I became comfortable with this, my interests grew. For instance when I first got my permit I swore I would never keep elapids and yet now I have two cobras. It just depends on what you are able to handle and what you are interested in. No real rhyme or reason to it with me. I am wanting to get a beaded lizard next but who knows what else might catch my eye....

Awesome! You have a very nice speaking voice snakeguy lol

haha, thanks. That is what 5 years of stage acting and 3 years of presenting shows at a museum does to you.

Cool Videos, You definitely give off an under control vibe and that steve irwin shirt solidifies it.

haha, thanks. That shirt was a gift from my mom. She sent it as a "dress shirt" and freaked when she found out that I was wearing it while cleaning cages and stuff so I wore it to joke with her some. :-)

Ya, i want you to do some videos of you doing maintenance on the cages. ALL the cages. I want to see how you handle the cobra and everything. 1 question, do you always go shoeless when handling snakes? I mean i know it was with a pine snake but i was just curious. I will use these many years to come when someone asks what it is like. make more.

Greaat videos I especially Love the rattle snakes mmmmm :) I was expecting some of your beautiful cobras :o And this showed me how interesting eyelash vipers were.
