i am interested, but don't think i need 9 of them...
anyone in socal possibly interested to split a bid? i would be interested in like 3.
if we have 2 or 3 people it would be darn cheap for a pretty rare fish!
i have contacted the seller and he said they were from Altamira Brazil and have not come in yet. he can quarantine them for as long as we want (within reason i suppose). they would arrive in january after the holiday rush.
here's a picture or two from cichlidae.com

let me know if you are interested.

That will be a nice pickup!!!:) Rapps still has the other variety for sale. Prices are outrageous though. The price on aquabid is extremely good. I want some but don't have the space.

No garuantee they will come in though. I tried doing this with these guys, and they weren't able to bring them in. Its a touchy thing, they get in good fish, but are relatively unreliable. Makes you nervous paying for the fish and then having to wait to pick them up.

hmmm that's not good to hear, but definitely welcome information.
they were telling me that i can pay first but can get all my money back if i choose to change my mind...
lol
not sure this is inspiring confidence in me at the moment either :D
i think maybe i should wait till january when they get in?

Arnold Ziffle on aquabid told me the same as peanut said. I would wait until they get them. Also they might not get in the correct species either. So I would wait until they arrive and have them confirm that they have the exact number of the one species you ordered.

Still a killer price. Even if they got in the 'lapidifer' instead of 'xinguensis' it would still be a nice order in my opinion.:)

isn't ladipifer even rarer than xinguensis? ;)
that would be awesome
ok i will wait till they arrive...

Only problem is that they might not order your fish for you if you don't pay. What the do is they fill an order, then the send it to the exporter/collector. Then they bring the fish back. Normally they want you to send the money first. They can get the fish they say, but there are times when they are unable, and you have to wait several months just to see your fish. Rather annoying, and sketchy. Personally, they should get the fish IN FIRST, then try to sell them, not the other way around! Bad business if you ask me. Great prices, but worth the risk?
