Socks Suck

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am beginning to think you would need in the order of twenty socks for any reasonable rate of flow.
Nah… nothin that crazy… splitting the drains even 1 time into 2 per sock makes a big difference. I run 6 that way off 3 drains on my 500 gal. The socks are only 7”x16” and i change them 1-2 times a year. The 7”x30” even on a single drain will run for a long time IMO. I have 2 of those on a 230gal and same thing i can go up to a year and they still wont overflow. More so change them for my “yearly” sump cleaning.

I use a 10 inch sock on my 125 gallon tank. I change it out once every 5-7 days. I just hose them out and air dry them. A 4 inch or 7 inch sock IMHO is no bueno. They are a pain but keep the water crystal clear.

washing machine does wonders on them after rinsing… i use about a half a cup of bleach per load also then run a 2nd cycle with a bit of peroxide to neutralize the bleach. Makes em “like new” ??. Im gonna have to look for 10’s lol… agree with ya 100%, the wider the diameter, the longer they last between cleaning.
