Soda Cichlid (Alcolapia Alcalicus)

In some parts of Lake Natron, concentration is more saline than the ocean.
In some areas where streams enter the lake during the rainy season, water is as close to being fresh .
They cichlids are highly adaptive.
I kept them at a an average salinity of about 3 ppt.

They tend to eat fry, so I moved holding females to separate quarters

These cichlids come from Tilapine ancestors that have colonzed areas from the Sea of Galilee (Tristramella) in Israel and the Straights of Hormuz in Iraq, (Iranicichla),
and every crator lake and watershed inbetween to the southern tip of South Africa (Tilapia sparrmanii)
Stomatepia pindu a small predator from lake Barumbi mbu a small crator lake in Cameroon, below.
To those with enhanced hemoglobin allowing them to live in oxygen depleted depths, similar to Coptodon bythobates that sports an orange glow.
