Sodium tripolyphosphate?!

Do you have an asian market near you? I am an avid fisherman and catch over half of the food I feed my stock. If you choose to do so, you need to freeze at -5f for 48 hours+ to make sashimi grade and kill any parasites and bacteria.

Just some ideas. I can see you're really getting into this with your great pair. It might not be impacting you financially yet but man they can really eat you out of house and home in time! Especially if you feed pellets the costs really add up. Plus I'm a cheap bastard.
Unfortunately I live in a very rural area

What do you catch? I was thinking of going ice fishing to catch perch. Can get up to 20 in a day.

Grocery store dosnt carry frozen Tilapia?
I do feed frozen tilapia...like to mix up shrimp and squid and stuff together to give them a varied diet. Doesn't seem to matter tho, from my research all the frozen seafood is treated with tripolyphosphates whether it's labeled or not. For some crazy reason, the USFDA doesn't require it to be put on the ingredient list. I imagine that all us American ray keepers are poisoning our rays slowly and don't even know. Not sure about Canada, you guys might want to look into it

Slowly poisoning our selves also, unless you make and grow your own food.

Ya seems all frozen fish has it and it does not have to be on the label because it's on the GRAS list (Generally Regarded As Safe)

I wonder if silver sides have it as they are more of a whole fish?

Pellets are expensive and don't seem great to feed as they are all fillers but look at some of the guys on here keeping rays for years and years and feed pellets! So.....

I just put down my cat who was 23 years old.
She ran up and down stairs up untill Monday.
She was fed her whole life the cheapest kibil and used the cheapest litter you could buy.

Guess it depends on how the animal can handle certain things.

Our limit is 25 perch here. They are easy to catch and don't contain thiaminaise from what I've been able to read. I feed perch, large and smallmouth, trout, I always have a halibut in the freezer so chunks of that also. Just filet it and deep freeze it around 3-5 days minimum. We eat tons of fish so they basically get scraps and anything that might go bad also.
