Ive got an empty 60 gallon and im looking for just 1 big boss of a fish to put in there. I know about flowerhorns and oscars anything else though? not planning on putting any other tank mates just 1 to have the whole tank to himself.
any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I don't think an Oscar or flowerhorn would be comfortable at full size. Maybe a jack Dempsey, polleni or red devil.

Small snakehead or wolf fish species, some only get like 8-9". Or what about a singal grammode? There like mini dovii and get around 9". Tbh i think 60g is a bit small for an oscar or flowehorn.

Depending on the tank dimensions, you could probably do a Green Terror. I know some of them can reach 10-12", but 8-9" is much more typical. Plus, they don't grow nearly as fast as RD's/Midas, Oscars, FH's, therefore giving you the time to grow one out over a couple years before deciding what to do next. However, if your tank is only 12" deep then I would consider something a bit smaller.

I would say istlanum would work. You really need some thing around 10" max length. Grammodes look nice but are quite skittish young along with a pretty slow growth rate. A female red devil may work.

Your just going to get yourself into a jam with a oscar or something similar

tank is 1'5 deep and 4'2 long 1'4 wide. and ive always been into dovii's. never knew theyre was a miniature species. Can anyone give me more info on them?
