I keep my carpintis in a 125 with a with an angel fish , a few groumi , parrots and small bass , fh, flagtails ,
He’s about 3 inch he’s aggressive but get along with everyone plenty of space nothing is over 3 inch
The thing is, your carpintus is still a baby, once they mature, its an entirely a new territorial ball game.
The one below is only half grown in this pic.

As a full grown adult, it will be ablate snap your gourami, and some others in half, with one bite.
Here is the one in a photo above, a few months later, and around 12".

Thanks for the responses. Yeah, carpintis is out for me. I kinda figured it wouldn't work, but it's such a beautiful fish...

Heterospilus is an option, but now that I think about it, they would probably eat my plants. And if I was dropping the plants, I'd probably do a pearsei tank, as that's probably my favorite fish.

So I'll probably do a lightly planted vals tank w/ groups of Amatitlania, Archocentrus and a EBJD, or I'll go no plants with a pearsei and a smaller number of additional fish.

At least that's my current thought... I have until at least mid August before I have to commit. My water is hard and neutral to slightly alkaline, so I'm def going CA. I'm glad because I love CA... :)

Unfortunately it will not last. They are pretty laid back until they hit about 4 or 5 inches. Then they get downright nasty. 125 might seem large now but it won't be once the carpintis gets some size on it, and your other fish have nowhere to run.
