  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
From all I've seen and read, they top out at around 9". A 75 should be suitable for life if it'll be kept solo.

++++ 1 GULPERS RULE.

I have a 9" male now. They can push 11" if you feed them well.
Your gulper is like a dog, they play in bubbles, swim into the powerheads and boy they eat. They will consume anything! anything is not an exageration. I lost a 6" Pearsie when my gulper was only 7". That meal gave him 1" of growth.... however gulpers do no eat tiny fish. they aren't worth their time.

I def say gulper or electric catfish, its fun to shock your friends...

But for cichlids I would not get a black nasty, midas, or any big paratheraps/vieja or any Parachromis in a 75. Cubans are beasts, GT (boring kinda IMO) , Female Amphilophus should be fine but no males too big. Um, try a pike cichlid maybe? It really depends on what type of behavior you want too, mean killers or something that can live with another fish, such as two JD's etc etc. Also Gulpers do not need space, they are chill and can be fine in a 75 even smaller. You could get 3 gulpers in a 75. they dont eat each other =)

my lil fella in his cube, i keep white clouds and red minor tetras with him

Dude that is awesome never thought of one of those that is no on a list of mine to think about I thought they got bigger then that. I was thinking about 12" and I thought a 75 was to small for them. So I couldn't keep any kind of cichlid with him then he is a straight out solo fish???

NO, you could, but eventually its dinner. =) Small fish are ok, maybe a convict lol. But like I said, they each anything they want. The rule of thumb is the fishes body needs to be 2x as high as the gulpers mouth is wide. It is like a python, and its jaw kinda unhinges. Crazy, ya. And when they catch their meal it's the most violent attack . He has like sandpaper lips so it grips it's meal, then it thrashers the ever living hell out of it to disorient it's meal, then he like his name says, Gulp Gulp Gulp's it down. Like I said I tested the myth and Lost a 6" Gentle Giant of a Pearsi to him in 30 seconds....

They are a lil pricey but a hardy awesome fish with some simple requirements. Low PH, 5.6-6.6 is ok, I run 6.0 And use like blackwater extract + amazon rain stuff and they are happy as can be. Also a huge piece of driftwood from Texas.

Btw your 75 has more length than the 110 cube mines in. My specs are 36 w 30 h 24 d.
