How is a 55g tank ever 12" wide? It would be more like 48x15x18.
I wouldn't put pygo's in a 55g though. I don't agree with keeping shoaling fish by themselves.

most 55's are 48 1/4 x 12 3/4 x 21 if I'm not mistaken.

i second that! they are really agressive and would be really happy in a 55g forsure. my 6" is in a 40g with a power head and hes loving it!

quick question.. the light i got with my tank is a 4ft T10 fluorescent, is this too bright for the piranhas? i also have some spare T12 tubes, can those be put into the fixture that's using the T10 currently?

how many watts does it put out? It shouldnt really be a problem... if it is just put in a few plants that will grow fast and cover the top to provide a bit of shade... if your not a plant guy just poke a few holes in tin foil and wrap it around the bulb.

good idea trigga, it's a 40watt bulb. can T12 bulbs be used in the T10 fixture?
