I think you would love a fahaka as a wet pet. Plus, you can probably keep school fish with it no problems whatsoever (I've seen quite a few vids of fahakas being successfully kept with much smaller community fish with no real issues cropping up). You would have to feed it stuff like snails, crayfish, clams, etc, but it's great to watch them eat/hunt.
As far as cichlids go, I would definitely roll towards umbee or dovii in a tank that size and try to see if I could grow out a monster. Maybe get a 10"+ wild male shipped to you from Rapps/Conkel and Co.
Or, if you are tired of ripped fins, go the pbass route? Plenty of good looking peacock bass species out there who would do well in a tank that size.
