In the summer he definitely slowed way down growth wise then picked up again in October and kept going up till he went off food. Usually he's getting whatever pellets I'm feeding the other tanks. I'm still hoping he will take a cricket off the top.

Yup they're a cold water species, so that makes sense. I've never offered bugs myself, but is that a thing? I think you'd be much better off offering small earthworms or trout worms. Nutritionally speaking, crickets don't amount to much.

I hadn't really fed him anything but pellets but I figured he'd like a treat.
