Some CK questions.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have had mine about 5 months and he was 4-5" when i got him. Yesterday i measured him and he is easily 12". I say that your is stunted and you need to beef him up with shrimp and worms. Good luck post a picture when you get him!

*does the happy dance*

I might be picking him up on Thursday!! ^_^ I'm so excited!!

what tank size will he NEED?

right now, my fiance and I are strapped for cash, so after I get a job, I can pick up a new tank for him, and even then, I won't be able to spend more than $500 on a tank.

I just picked up my fish today!! He's actually more in the vicinity of 9-10 inches. He's still a gorgeous fish!!

Do CK's get chimples? It looks like he has a lump under his chin. When my camera batts are charged, I'll get pics to post up.

Ok, I don't know why it won't let me edit my last post to add the pictures *grumps* but here he is!! They were calling him Pig, and my fiance hated that name so we changed to Buddy, since I say "Hi Buddy" whenever I walk past his tank.

I'm guessing that the 35 gallon hexagon tank could have something to do with his small size. The gravel was yuck when we were cleaning it out to put some goldfish in it.

Anyways, without further ado, here's Buddy!!

pretty awesome pattern. he needs a bigger tank soon though or he'll start jumping with frustration. i hope uve prepared ure fiance for a potential MONSTER FISH TANK!

I've already told him that we're custom building our house to have big fish tanks in them, with a drain in the floor and a hose for draining and filling during water changes. lol

I'm hoping to get a bigger tank too, what size does he NEED to be happy?

Also, she was feeding him 1 frozen cube (he wouldn't let it thaw) of brine shrimp every couple of days, is this good for him? or should I up the frequency and change foods?

I'm still wondering what that bump is, you can see it in the second pic. It looks like his mouth is open, but it's not, and that's the bump hanging down.

ummmm i cant really tell from the picture wat the bump is....everything kinda looks normal. but CKs in captivity only really need 6foot by 3foot tanks keeping in mind that they probably will not reach their wild size of up to 4 feet! but as always, the bigger the better! fight for a monster tank and u wont regret it later wen u reap the benefits of satisfaction. good luck :)

Thanks!! I'm hoping to get a job soon so that I can upgrade him to something bigger, I feel so bad for the poor thing, living in a tank that was way too small for him all those years!!

i am so happy you got him.. he is awesome and if you love your guy the way i love mine he will make you so happy.. they are just to me the most wonderful elegant fish.. love his beautiful pattern.. he is gorgeous and lots of luck getting that house and his new house in the future... :D

I'm exstatic that we had the oppurtunity to get him!!

We had a couple a year or so ago, and they were really little still, well, we were victims of misinformation, and we ended up losing them both!! I was devastated!!!

Now I have the right information, and I'm looking forward to many happy years with Buddy!!

Also, can you house a redtailed shark with a clown knife? The "shark" is 6 inches in length.
