i supose a ground probe in the sump cant hurt?

i did shut the powerheads off in the tank, i will see he stops flashing. it could be the sand, seems like theres always some on his head(sechem meridian oolitic)
 
he is eating great now BUT, under his head is red/pink(irritated). he is still flipping on his side and rubbing his head/gills on the sand.

the seachem oolitic sand might be the problem, its not very consistent in grain size and has larger chunks in it, even a couple 2" rocks.

thoughts?
