Some fun Oddball Photos!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You're right - I overlooked that photo. Even the jaw is way different. I'm going to look at my pink M. albus right now to compare....

They do look very similar, except mine are a crazy pink! Is the last photo of the same ""monopterus"" ? If so, then I am pretty sure that you're right on this one.

Gotta ask Waldo about getting me some of each :) But top of my list is still an Aussie lung ;)
Take it easy, Jude

My only problem, however, is.... Monopterus is not from SA. Were these fish imported together?

If so... YIKES...

The US isn't the only country with an invasive species problem. Monopterus albus is a live food export from Asia to many countries around the globe.

Just odd that we never hear about it... If you guys come across any of either species, let me know!

nice pics miles!

btw - sant. oddball is always right! LOL

Which one is this guy? I saw it at a lfs and it was labeled as Monster Fish, but was only 1/4" in size. They were asking $20 for it.

It is a monster fish - Thalassophryne amazonica. A mini monster... 4 to 6 inches max.
Bury themselves in the sand and that's the end of seeing them apparently LOL
