Some good news and some really bad news

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if it's not in the lease, they can't tell you you can or can't.

If it wasn't in the lease about a max size, they can't do anything about it. I know, bc our landlord said we were allowed to have aquariums (and didn't mention max size in the lease) but no other pets...Well theres a 90, 2x55s, a 60 gallon, a 29 gallon, a 20 gallon, a 12 and a few 10s here...really there is nothing he can do about it, and he knows it too, he didn't seem happy when he was here about it, but realized he never specified otherwise in writing, and this is a college house haha.

get a standard 90g and then measure the inside dimensions and also subtract 5-10g for decorations/rocks, theres your 75g of water!:naughty:
this guy is think out side the box. you could always get a wide tank and cut a hole in the wall and push the tank back a bit and then its perfect they don't know a thing hehehehehe

yea good point :)

Just buy one and tell her its a 75, like she would even know the difference. I highly doubt she is going to measure the tank and do the math to figure out the gallons. Thats insane that they actually come and inspect each unit once a month, how many units are there?

My parents have a property rental company and they have never said anything about fish tanks, I would imagine they would if they walked into a 300 gallon tank on the 3rd floor or something, but they no way do checks once a month, or even once a year.

Good luck with that man, hope it works out you can do what you want.

yea i mean the avarge person won't know a 125 from a 75. try geting like 4x2x21" then it will ahve everything just a bit wider son not much differance :)

double check yer lease and then just go over her head and call the management company..

If you plan on renting after you are done living at your current residence, I dont suggest doing this, because there is plenty they can do if they choose to. Try to talk it out using valid legal arguments. Your land lord can change the terms of your lease, they just have to give it to you in writing with a certain amount of warning, usually in 30 day increments, so you could win the "its not in the lease argument" and they can change the terms and you could have a 125 for thirty to ninety days before you cant legally have it anymore. talk with your landlord about why they are limiting the size to 75 gallons, and try to put the landlords mind at ease; explain to them why an exception should be made for you.

Def go this route first.

oh, and that once a month inspection is BS, You need to familiarize yourself with the civil code because they cannot just come check the residence because they want to.
