one other thing nobody brought up ...how about picking up a used 55...JUST the tank,you have everything else (except maybe a stand).. if the filter is keeping you at 0 ammonia &nitrites now it won't change in a 55 .. that's your best bet imo

funny you should say that, my friend is actually giving me his used (55) in about a month (he's getting out of the hobby). Stop reading my mind bro . But actually I'm saving the tank for a native shiners and darters tank. Also I don't have room for a 55 where my 30 tall is, reason I had to do a tall is I only have about 26" to work wih where it is.

have you thought about using the 55 for your current stock and the current tank for the new stock? I am not familiar with the natives you are going to do but it might work out well for you

Hmm, maybe but then I'd have to tear up my gravel since in doing a heavily planted native tank. Also minnows and darters do well with long tanks. I always hear people ranting in the native section saying "height is just wasted room for stream fish!". Oh well, I'll sell the tetras and go from there. Thanks for the help bro.

I am sure you will be fine with a little less stock in the 30,and the bigger wc's...
