I work as an in home technician and what I just saw made me sick to my stomach. In what I would guess was a 40 gallon tank was a mix of african and south american cichlids. I recognized a couple peacocks, 5-7 convicts, a 9" midas, a firemouth and about 12 other fish I could not identify. So not only is this tank overcrowded (which I consider overcrowding the minor of offenses in the fish world) but the tank water was the color of coffee. There was 1 dead fish covered in ich and halfway melted floating at the top. There were about 4 fish swimming nose down in the gravel with what appeared to be swim bladder disease. All of them were deformed one way or another, mouths and spines. One fish had no fins, most likely ripped off or fin rotted. If I had an iPhone I woulda sneaked a pic to show you guys this. The owner, some fat disgusting hopeless child with a slave of a mother and by child I mean a worthless 25-30 year old. She had tattoos up and down her arm which resembled a 7 year olds doodles and scribbles making no sense at all. Looks like the blob never moves from her chair. There were birds too and I couldn't even look in detail at how bad of condition there cage was. Some people truly are filth and undeserving to have living creatures in their household. I wish I could do something about this.

I didnt look at the cage, I was afraid to. I had seen enough to imagine the cage was in very poor standings. Sad that animal services wont consider a fish's life. 8(

Yep its sad. People who can't even take proper care of themselves should not be having animals of any kind.

Sorry but often times the animals should be taking care of the less than human creatures who own them, we all feel your disgust and unfortunately it happens every day.

So why not say something to them about it?

I would say something but as an employee of the company I work for I am not really suppose to be a human and have an opinion about things like this in peoples home. Yah I would prefer to work for someone else or for myself and be a little more free with my opinion but jobs are scarce and I do what I need to do to stay employed. I can try an anonymous tip to the humain soceity about the fish but I really doubt them or ASPCA would do anything about poor fish tank conditions. As for the birds, probably but I was already trying to get out of the house asap and the birds were in another messy room so I couldnt get an exact picture of there conditions... I just know it was filthy and judging the tanks conditions I figured the same went for the birds health. There were also 4-5 dogs living here. This all being a 2 bedroom apartment. I am mostly venting and thanking all of you that take good care of the your pets. It makes my heart hurt to see an animal not being taken care of properly.
