Some humans just make me sick...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Can't agree more ....And here on MFK there is plenty of that ...When you see some starved for attention kid posting his latest "cool pickup" an arapima or a RTC, where do you think those fish will end up ? Is not going to be in 4000 g tank/ pond, I can tell you that much...a slow painful death is alot more likely.

I see so many instances like this on craigslist even with simple Oscars and especially Red-Eared Sliders saw 4 4-5" in a 40B not to long ago. Wish I could re-home all of them but its just not feasible.

Ugh, reminds me of when I did in home service calls and went to a trailer with another tech. At one time we counted 25 cats, and that was only what we could see. The litterbox wasn't visible because the mountain of feces was completely burying it. They also had numerous birds and reptiles, although with the condition of the habitats it was impossible to tell what species. We reported this to management as soon as we left, but were told that there wasn't much that could be done to report it. Our hands were also tied when it came to reporting child welfare too since we weren't officially trained to spot abuse we weren't allowed to report it.

I have been specifically told at work that if I saw child abuse I could report it. I really havent seen any of that thought luckily. Ill say it again because someone mentioned the birds again. I did not see there condition, I know they were in a messy room so I cannot tell you there condition nor could report to authorities based on what I saw.

Anon. tip from payphone? Even if they are in suitable conditions there's no repercussions back at you, and if they aren't well you just saved some birds and who knows what else.

I work as an in home technician and what I just saw made me sick to my stomach. In what I would guess was a 40 gallon tank was a mix of african and south american cichlids. I recognized a couple peacocks, 5-7 convicts, a 9" midas, a firemouth and about 12 other fish I could not identify. So not only is this tank overcrowded (which I consider overcrowding the minor of offenses in the fish world) but the tank water was the color of coffee. There was 1 dead fish covered in ich and halfway melted floating at the top. There were about 4 fish swimming nose down in the gravel with what appeared to be swim bladder disease. All of them were deformed one way or another, mouths and spines. One fish had no fins, most likely ripped off or fin rotted. If I had an iPhone I woulda sneaked a pic to show you guys this. The owner, some fat disgusting hopeless child with a slave of a mother and by child I mean a worthless 25-30 year old. She had tattoos up and down her arm which resembled a 7 year olds doodles and scribbles making no sense at all. Looks like the blob never moves from her chair. There were birds too and I couldn't even look in detail at how bad of condition there cage was. Some people truly are filth and undeserving to have living creatures in their household. I wish I could do something about this.

Can barely wait to see how she treats her eventual offspring.

I would say something but as an employee of the company I work for I am not really suppose to be a human and have an opinion about things like this in peoples home. Yah I would prefer to work for someone else or for myself and be a little more free with my opinion but jobs are scarce and I do what I need to do to stay employed. I can try an anonymous tip to the humain soceity about the fish but I really doubt them or ASPCA would do anything about poor fish tank conditions. As for the birds, probably but I was already trying to get out of the house asap and the birds were in another messy room so I couldnt get an exact picture of there conditions... I just know it was filthy and judging the tanks conditions I figured the same went for the birds health. There were also 4-5 dogs living here. This all being a 2 bedroom apartment. I am mostly venting and thanking all of you that take good care of the your pets. It makes my heart hurt to see an animal not being taken care of properly.

There is proper care then there is intentional neglect I think that many of us stumble and fail to achieve proper care frequently but this just is so disgusting its unconscionable.
