I keep venomous as well- you take the animal out of the enclosure using snake hooks. And no you cannot harvest and sell the venom- you would need hundreds of snakes to collect enough.

Oh. Maybe not to sell then, but can you harvest it it make the animal safe? ...I mean, do they ever run out of venom (so to speak) and have to stock up more before they can bite again? That's where I was going with the question.

Think about it this way- can you ever run out of saliva? No matter how many times you spit- there will still be some and the drier your mouth is the more quickly the saliva is produced. Venom glands are just modified salivary glands.

Well that certainly puts it in perspective. Thank you so much!

I'm not gonna lie or try to be macho, if they can smell fear, I'd best not be visiting...lol

Props to you though and all the others who keep these animals. They are amazing creatures, that's for sure.

I don't fear these animals rather I respect them. One of the easiest ways to avoid getting tagged is to stay out of their strike range; that's why I use a hook/hooks of an appropriate length to work with them & never reach in the cages with my hand if they're still in there.

Good answer. That is the only way man.

Here's a picture of the little hook that I made last night to use with the baby hybrid & any other small snakes; the hook I had been using seemed a bit big to use with him.

I have fallen in love with your copperhead. A very beautiful snake.
