Hi..........

Yes you have Channa melasoma!

There is only one species that looks very similar to Channa melasoma and this is Channa baramensis!

It has the same shape but the biggest difference is,that Channa baramensis has little black spots on each scale!

I have not seen baramensis alive,but I have seen a lot of pictures and I have one specimen lying in Alcohol at home.
Also I have seen baramensis in the collection of the natural history Museum of London!

How often do you feed your fish and what is its size?
It looks a little bit fat!

hi Pascal he/she is about 8-9" or so and i have had him for 18 months , i feed him every other day on whitebait,shrimp/prawn,cockles,earthworms etc he doesn't always look like that though maybe i should feed 3 times a week instead ! thanks for positive ID Paul
