Yes you have Channa melasoma!

There is only one species that looks very similar to Channa melasoma and this is Channa baramensis!

It has the same shape but the biggest difference is,that Channa baramensis has little black spots on each scale!

I have not seen baramensis alive,but I have seen a lot of pictures and I have one specimen lying in Alcohol at home.Also I have seen baramensis in the collection of the natural history Museum of London!

How often do you feed your fish and what is its size?
It looks a little bit fat!
