I am sorry this is probably a common question, but in people's experience what are some of the active polypterus? I am looking to grow my collection and would like to add some activity. I have two ornates, one endi, and one delhezi. I have a couple of tanks that would love to have some polypterus added. So whats everyone suggestions?

i agree i have a weeksii, nile.endri, ansorgii, delhezi, ornates and senegals and the senegals are by far the most active. ive also found which may cause some discussion is by having less hiding places they all seem more active and are still happy! you may however experience some agression from your ornates to the less boisterous senegals which can be hit or miss especially if the ornates are adult and not mixed with others.

Yup my albino sen is by far the most active bichir i have. I've barely see him stop!! He always swimming and gliding all over the place. I have a delhezi who doesn't hide and is considerablly active NOW. The story changes about my moke and weeksi, they are extremely shy and theey always hide in there personal castle. i haven't seen my weeksi for quite a while now! LOLs. My moke only come when it dark out and whe it's feeding time!

Senegal is definitly the most active, which why IMO it is the best home aquarium bichir...blank looking sure, but they normally don't hide, always exploring, swimming around...great fish.

My senegal is very active
He basically will come out of his hole and swim around for an hour, then gulp air and go back to his hole.

Some other active bichirs are weeksii, nile.endri, ansorgii, delhezi, ornates, banded, green and mokelembembe
