I hunt, not with handguns.
I shoot paper though none of my guns are "target" guns. I do not dream about being robbed. On the other hand, I pray that my family and I are never a target for scumbags. However, if we are, I owe it to MY family to be prepared to send the scumbags to hell.

I did trade the Mak for the CZ, not really a fair trade, the guy added 100rds of practice ammo and a box of Hornady XTP personal defense to even it out a little. I only had $100 in the Mak anyhow.

I notice they only have 5 round mag's. Is that merely to stay CA legal? Would I need to do anything to them to get them to accept the normal high capacity double stack mags?

They accept standard AK mags, they are still not CA legal with the 5rounders either. Not sure why they sell them with it. If you get one, Ill take the mag! I need to find a 5rd mag for cheap!
For less then $600 to get a REAL RUSSIAN MADE AK with magwell dimples and a nice rail system is GREAT if you ask me.

They also have Arsenal SLR-106's (Bulgarian AK 100 series clones) in 5.56 with folding stock and the same rail for $700 if you wanted something in 5.56.
