i got mine about 4" six months ago and he's now right at 10-12". the bigger they get the harder it is for them to hide so they get used of not hiding and just bieng "exposed" mine only comes out when the lights are out. I think he was scarred as a baby they had him in a bare bottom tank no decor for him to hide in and a bunch of kids tapping the galss luckily i saw him in time to "save him" ( good excuse for another fish ) now he hides he comes out in low light. i'll hear him before i see him. i hear the gravle hitting the galss from him looking for food. ( the back of the tank is black so hard to see anything with low light)
