Wow that's awesome!
42 counting the Indian Mud Moray, Black Shark, 3 albino Rainbow Sharks and 1 normal Rainbow Shark. 36 are catfish - 12 Corydoras, 3 Striped Raphael, 4 Spotted Raphael, 4 Synodontis, 3 Plecostomus, 3 Colombian Sharks, 2 Asian Bumblebee, 2 Pimelodus, 1 Eclipse/Indian Sun Cat, 1 Channel cat, 1 Lima Shovelnose

45 cichlids w/ about 200+ fry from 3 species

....and 11 native Sunfish

wow, that's cool - none of my Synos show any interest in me as a companion whatsoever ......they just seem to have a mind of their own and do whatever they do. I wish my cats would be owner-responsive r at least curious like that.

On a lighter note, have you ever seen a full-grown Synodontis eupterus? my buddy had one at his store a few months back and this thing was MASSIVE.......no joke, had to be 12", but it was sooooooo thick , like probably 3 or 4 X heavier than you'd expect a 12" fish to weigh. It was so intimidating I had ask myself in my head like "You bought TWO of these things??? What's wrong with you?" lol

You are lucky. I wish you had taken a pic. I've never seen a eupterus over 8".
the big one is pushing 6-7" and he was 1 hatchling last year....i got him at 2", maybe less in March 2016......beast mode engaged for the moment......Synodontis grow FAST in my experience. My neighbor has one i need to to remove from 6 months ago also...2" to 6" in 4 months. Yes, very quick, Brothers. Good thing we have a market out here.

Synodontis eupterus is not for smaller tanks.....

I'd think they have good genes. Usual eupterus take a few years to get to 6"-7" and get stuck at 8" forever. They are farm-raised though, so I'd not be surprised if the gene pool needs lots of chlorine. Too many deformed ones, too many slow-growing and small ones.

IDK what's up with this group, but they are growing ridiculously fast but all my fish are ridiculously overfed and fat so that might be part of it. I go crazy at feeding time lol and i purposely overfeed, unplug my filters for an hour or so and wait until all the cichlids chew up the food and let it fall to the bottom so my bottom-feeders can have a smorgasbord of their own. Seems to be working quite well for me so far lol
