Some of my guys

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My stock list is

Satanoperca leucasticta - used to breed these so have around 14 some at the 9-10 inch mark

2x heckalii

3 geophagus steindachneri ( red hump)

5 geo. Rio tapojas

4 uaru

4 geophagus abalios

2 green severum

2 common striped angels

Various pleco and dithers ( rummy nose and black tetras)

I love my peaceful south americans but choice is really limited here in Australia. I currently have 3 180 gallon 6x2x2 tanks but am planning a 10x4x3 at the end if next year and hope to transfer my whole stock to that tank.

Are all these fish in 3 different tanks? What would you suggest for a 142 gallon tank. I'm trying to make a geo community based on 2 -3 types of Geos including Red Head Tapajos.

Yes mate divided into 3 seperate tanks. I have the leucasticta in pretty much a species tank and the rest a community.

With tapojas you can have a wide range of species. My abalios are amazing and really gentle so I recommend these, also heckaii are great fish no agression at all. Dont get steindacrneri as these can be really aggressive. Leucasticta are awesome but if your in the states maybe a couple of daemon...
Do it mate as eartheaters are great fish to keep.

How bout the Uaru? Can it be put into the same tank as geos? I was thinking of getting a single oscar and/or a chocolate cichlid into the geo tank as well... that a good Idea?

I have 4 uaru with my more hardy geos. They are really agressive feeders and a touch too boisterous at feeding time for the leucasticta so they are in with the abalios right now. Bear in mind they wil eventually reach 12inches and like to be kept in a school of 4 or more when making the purchase. Chocoates are fine with geos but unsure about Oscars as never keot them together, maybe someone else will comment?
I think they may be a bit too rough.

Thanks for the kind comments will post more pics later.
