  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nick I just messaged you a picture of the KML.

This is my 5th kamalau (only one I haven't posted yet) I believe this one is a female.

sorry about the picture but it was the best one I could get of her. If anybody is interested I would like to sell or trade this one.

:( if only... I'd take her off your hands lol, but damn bro, I wish KML's were readily available in my area, I think the best a few breeders have out here are male malaus, from back in the day, the stuff we're getting now is improving by lots, So i'm hoping to own something like your fish soon.

I have had this female in a 90gallon with assorted new worlds 2-5" for about a year and a half. I got her from rainnybetta as a $5 red dragon fry but never had anything to pair her with so I always kept her with a bunch of other fish. She's been peeling for a long time but hasn't progressed much. I had a male who completely faded and so do a few others who got fish from this batch so I assume she will be 100% faded one day.

I decided to introduce her next to this KML and they instantly showed interest in each other so I put a divider in that the female could get through.

They've been together for 18 hours or so now and she hasn't got a mark on her that she didn't have before I put her in there so I assume I will just have to wait for eggs. This isn't my ideal pair of fish or anything I just want to test the fertility of this male. He seems to be more interested in breeding more than any other male flowerhorn I've ever had so that is a good sign.

My female laid eggs for this male last night but I'm unsure if he fertilized them. So far the female is just guarding the eggs and the male is begging for food (like always) but he has put on some slight breeding colors. I should know by tomorrow if the eggs are fertile I'll keep you guys posted.

I'd be pissed if my sparkly fish faded into a red and white fish.

You should see the obese kamalau at Pet-Pourri. Clark feeds that thing so much! He rescued it from a bucket in the winter and brought it around. It has some pink spots but mostly it's metallic blue. And fat. Like a pig.
