Nice PBB as always! BTW, how the clean/wash the red sand when they become dirty? I plan to put red sand as well but my father objects as he says it's a really troublesome chore to do? Does anyone have any suggestions that might convince my stubborn father?

You clean them just like any other sand, nothing special. I got no problem with mine. Didn't even bother vacuuming it as my lungfish and some doradid cats are doing it for me then all the debris get sucked by the filter. Why wash...? You're only killing the beneficail bacteria that made a colony in the substrates. Why, do you take out your substrates when you do water change?

very nice el! how big's the pbb? and how do u actually differentiate them from laps. (other than those normal fin counts)

PBBs are at 14-16 inches long and still very skinny. They just got dewormed. As on how to tell the difference well, fin count don't usually apply as some PBB have only have 14 finlets some have 18. Same goes with lap at 13 but max at 15 finlets. When the finlets pass 15 then it's a 100% PBB. Also the distance of the eyes between each other of a pbb is a bit farther away from each other. While laps eyes are set almost on top and are closer compare to PBB. The lower lips of PBB are also thicker and more protruding than laps. Once I get my PBB to fatten up I will post a tread on comparison with different lap variants as some laps such as bullets head have similar looks to PBB.

How did you get such bad swirls on surface of your tank? Looks horrible... nice fish tho.

It's an acrylic tank and it's been in my parent's garage for a long time as I moved to a new apartment last September. But now I moved back to my parents place as they went back to Asia. When I took the tank out for cleaning the scratches started to appeared. I was just too excited to set it up that I didn't bother trying to buff it first but now I kinda regretted it that I didn't. So I'm taking out the fish out again and buff the the acrylic tank to get rid of the scratches. Just have to buy Novus polisher.
