Post a pic of the vent of the Synspilum (now classified as Melanarus).

Are they all in the same tank?

The crass and severum share a tank, jag is alone, and Syn lives with some dithers in a separate tank. I'll try to get a vent pic....difficult as the fish is afraid of the camera.

The most clear picture would require taking the fish out and flipping it upside down to take a picture.

Eh, Id rather not stress the fish out by removing it from its home. I've always called it "male" however at this size I would expect it to be getting a more rounded forehead. Just based on appearances what do others think?

Wow stunning fish!

What size is the melanarus? IME it takes awhile to tell. It really seems blue eyes indicates male.
I thought mine was female until he hit 12".
