Ok... sometimes, I think my family is INSANE... and today was a PRIME exhample...
As posted a while ago, I have a car in the shop that needs an extensive amount of repairs done... well winter is coming and I still need about $2000 to get my car out of the shop.
Well, I ask my mom to help me get a loan to pay off the rest of the repair fee. No bigger, she's willing to help under the conditions I pay her back within a few months. Ok, cool.
Well, I have a 1965 VW beetle that I was working on restoring, and was gona have to sell it to get the extra money, but since my mom was gonna help me out with the loan, I wouldn't have to do that.
I go out to her house today... and talk to her... and NOW the terms of the loan have changed. She NOT ONLY wants me to pay back the loan in 1/2 the time the loan term is for ($500/mo instead of the $250/mo payment that is WAS gonna be) BUT she wants me to GIVE HER the old beetle... not as collataral... but GIVE HER the old beetle for her helping me with the loan... and STILL have to pay back the loan. WTF?!! Her reasoning... "It'll count as interest."
IN WHAT BANK/World/Logic does a vehical that's worth $3000+ count as INTEREST on a friggin $2000 loan!?
Now, we're not talking giving her the beetle as collateral on the loan... no no no... she meant to Pay back the loan AND let her KEEP the car.. as in sighn the title over.. it's HERS kind of keep.
I am sooo frustrated right now. Needless to say I left her house on not-so-good terms, and I will NOT be getting the loan from her. I told her she was bat**** insane as I left.
I just needed to vent a little bit. It just UGH! I WAS gonna get my car back this week if she gave me the loan... but NOOOO. I'm so frustrated with my family. They're all friggin drunks.

We had advised you to just let that car go I think? What makes this car worth keeping over $2000?

I mean - I'm sorry you're having a rough time of it - but maybe you want to think about letting the car go, or selling the old beetle. Some things just aren't worth the life stress.

Well, I've been making payments on the repair bill, and wasn't able to sell the old bug until I got the engine running... which it is now, and already have a couple offers, so that'll work out.
The car that I'm keeping retail value is about $11,000...and I really like the car... and well, it's MINE DAMMIT!
It's just that I thought I had a deal with my mom... and then she turned crazy on me. So it was kinda frustrating. But I do have a plan B, which though not what I was wanting ideally.. will work. I just needed to vent a bit.
Also, If all goes well with selling the old bug I'll have about $2K extra to put aside for fun stuff... like some bigger fish tanks. mwa hah haha!

Sorry to hear you're in such a mess. Truthfully you're not the only one with family problems and sometimes you have to be humble, suck up what you can to get yourself moved on and try not to get into the same situation. I realize you like the beetle and I'm not saying strike this deal with your mom but I would let the beetle go to at least try to recoupe some of the money for your car repairs.

But yeah alot of people have familys who are just plain weird or not right in the head..

opps didn't see you posted that.. glad everything might work out.

sorry didn't make that quite clear, by "the car that I'm keeping" I meant the one that's in the shop that I'm selling the old bug for the repairs for. My mom wanted me to give her the old bug in exchange for giving me a LOAN... now if she was gonna BUY it from me that would be one thing... but she wanted me to GIVE HER the old bug as "interest" on the loan... hence the complete ridiculousness of the situation.

Mom is a good businesswoman. She's a natural for the loan sharking business. I know somebody who's recruiting these types.:naughty:

She was going to help you with the loan to fix the beetle and then you were supposed to give that same care that you just payed 2000 bucks to get fixed to her? Or the not the beetle, the other car was being fixed? I don't know:screwy:
