So I'll try not to make it a rant, but what a waste of time.:irked:

I found an amazing deal on craigslist. 7' x 3' tank with lids, lights, and filters, for $135. Of course I jumped right on it. I even called the guy right away to ensure that he would hold it for me a couple of days since it was 4 hours away and I needed to get a couple buddies to come along and help move such a massive tank. For sure it would take 3 people he assured me.

I called again before leaving to ask if it was exactly 7x3 and he said yes, pretty much. Like 6-7 long and 2-3 wide...

Then he says he needs me there sooner than I was planning on, so I left work early to hurry on my 4 hour drive.

You may have guessed it already, I get there and the tank is 4ft long and 13" inches wide... :swear::swear::swear::cry::WTF::liar::wall::wall::wall::duh:

Now I had prepared myself for that possibility, but still, very disappointing. I just looked at it, explained that it was 4x1 not 7x3. and said "no thanks" and left. UNBELIEVABLE. How can you be that far off. If that is 7 feet long, how tall does he think he is????

Even when I asked several times.

I know, I should have insisted that he measure it, but with a deal that good, it's tough to bug a person too much, or they might just say forget it.
I've gotten BIG tanks for very little money before on CL, I guess I can't get lucky everytime.

On the upside, my brother only lives 45 minutes from there, so my friend (who came to help carry such a massive tank) and I just went there for the night, so it wasn't a total loss.

It baffles me how someone could be so far off. It's not a one time thing, I work at a pet store, people tell me about their 90 gallon tanks that are only 29" long, 13" deep" and however tall a 29 gallon is... :screwy: Is there no common sense?

lol. That's terrible.

Wow, that really sucks. Whenever I'm at work and someone doesn't know how big their tank is, I always take them over to the tank wall and ask them to point to the one they think is close. I tend not to trust the "it's probably like 100 gallons" people:ROFL:

What I don't get is the people who sell thgese tanks more often then not but them new. and they say how big they are when they buy them. then a year later when they sell them off the tank is 3 times bigger. Now why would you do that? or are people that stupid?
