No pics, just a very short ad. and a phone number.

But for comparison, I got a 180 with lids and stand for $25 out of an ad that said "180gallon tank first $25 takes it" and I had to email the anonymous email link CL provides. So, a vague ad can end well. I bought that one the same way that I attempted to get this one, I didn't ask any questions, I just said I'll take it. The 180 guy was super cool, tho. He didn't let anyone else come in and buy it from under me.

4 hr drive without pic first? I wouldn't care if it is free, 4 hrs is worth too much not to get a pic...if the seller has a ligitimate size he's selling he'll no problem get out the tape measure...
Sometimes we get too greedy and want the deal so bad we are willing to "not upset the guy" for fear of what? Him saying forget it, I want more for this 55gal?

The first clue should have been the measurements in 1-2 foot variables ;)

Well, I admitted my mistake, but maybe I've been too lucky in the past and became a little too trusting. It was the third time I asked about the size that the variable came into it.

This thing was pretty close to Milwaukee, so I was legitimately worried that someone "local" would see the ad and grab it. Around here, big tanks are hard to come by. It's a snooze = you lose market. Even among MFKer's in this area, there's tough competition for big tanks at good prices.
 
I remember when I got that 180 a couple of other MFK members getting upset because there emails were just minutes behind mine. I responded to the 180 ad just 12 minutes after it was posted. Another member here was 3 minutes behind me. I think that in this case I just got caught up on trying to get the ultimate deal. In my mind, I had the tank stocked before I ever saw it...
