$450 is not that far off... If it was me selling it I would price it around $300-350. The flowerhorn game is not like buying a convict. When you buy a convict you expect it to be blueish and have black stripes and 99.9% of the time it does, not the same with a hybrid. Each one is unique, the one in the picture is probably top 5% of the sellers batch, that means to get this one great looking fish the breeder had to raise 95% of the fry that he would never sell. So you got two choices as a breeder 1.) Raise the price of the top 5% of your batches or 2.) Sell every fish in the batch while polluting the hobby with low quality trimac look alike fish to recoupe your expenses...

nice fh

I'll bet $450 that your fh will look nothing like that in a few months. Quality is the name of the game. You gotta pay to play. NYC locals know of 38 Aquarium's infamous $3000+ fh.

Yep...quality is what you pay for.

I would say 1) and 2) would be the best bet for the breeders/sellers(lfs). Selling top quality fish will still bring them top dollar at small quantity. and selling low quailty fish will still bring them top dollar at large quantity (but low quality).

Look people, if we as a consumer keep buying overpriced fish, the lfs will continue to sell it with huge overpriced price tag. Believe me that $450 fish if not sold in 6 months the lfs will easily bargain the price down to around $300.00 and still make around 300%-400% profit from it.
BTW, Did I mention that I love lfs.:cool-1:

Where is this place? I'd like to go check it out.
