Only 2 months. I saw him at a LFS for $30 and had to get him. I traded a 4 inch juvy and cash for him. He is very mellow and gentle. Gets along with everyone.

I have a little 4" tiger that I saved from wal-mart,he had the best colors in the tank but now hes kinda ugly,but in a cute way.He seems to be able to turn his coloring on and off at will and usually spends his time in a blotchy mode with mostly brown tones. (wanted a "zebra oscar" from liveaquaria but it just didnt happen)

I have a little tiger about the same size as yours and he does the same thing. When I'm feeding in the morning he is jet black and then he gets blotchy once he's stuffed. It's all in the attitude.

Here's my oscar that I mentioned. He's a real dick when it comes to feeding him. He splashes half of the water out when I open the lid. Makes me want to fry him up and eat him when he does that!
Very nice, Vicious_Fish...that's definitely one of the more offensive habits of the oscar. I have to wear a suit to work everyday and let me tell you how much I love getting splashed in the morning.
