My buddy is a fisheries managment major at Auburn University. For the hell of it he went out with some friends to do some netting in a local swamp. His catch included these gar and bowfin. He said he also caught hundreds if not thousands of freshwater shrimp! Notice how dry the swamp is; he said its deepest was no more then 12inches and these fish were every where! Also the water was so black it was opaque. Even though it was shallow you still couldnt see the fish in it....

It was catch and release. I want him to get one of those small bowfin and ship it to me. Do you guys think one shipped in just a couple of soaked socks would make it in priority (2-3day) mail? AS hardy as these guys are I say that there is a chance!

I would bust a you-know-what if i had acess to that paradise of a mudpuddle.............i almost lost it when i saw that.........and all that shrimp for endless food!!!!! PARADISE.....i'm goin there........maybe!!

Even though bowfin can breath air it doesn't mean they can be shipped in a wet sock.....They will die. Try and use some water.

Very true but bowfin require special shipping or you are playing roulette.
