Nice collection. I've found thousands of shark teeth in a local creek over the past 15 years. It was a major producer for the first 5-7 years, and then really fell off when it got dredged and widened. :(

I recently bought this diplomystus dentatus fossil and built a frame for it as a gift for a friend of mine.

used a router or what, pm me how you did this and go ahead and put the fish in the mail for me, I will give you my zip code lol. They are common but still cool as hell aren't they, yours looks great, Ive been pricing some other species for some time just haven't jumped yet.

Be careful ordering some of the ones like that but thinner, they break easy in the mail no matter what you do. Had one show up jacked up.

Actually, it's just oak 1x3 with a piece of 1/4x4 glued on top of it. I don't have a table for my router yet, so I took an easier approach. I just used a couple 45'd cuts to hold the corners of the plate from the back and it was all set. This one had some substantial depth to it. It said 3/4", but it was a little bit thicker than that.

I already gave that one away to the girl I bought and made it for, but I'm going to be getting another one and framing it for myself. I'll take step-by-step pics of the build for it.

I really wished I didn't read this thread. If I'm lucky my memory will fail me before I take up another expensive hobby.

Well I sell things that are very cool for very fair prices now and then, and its not like your buying a 50,000 buck museum piece lol.

Ill tell you what though, once you study into fossils and especially meteorites, it does get pretty addicting, but again, you dont have to spend a fortune for a neat collection. The most important thing is learning enough to tell fakes or not, and finding people not marking stuff up to hell and sitting on it for years hoping a guy like you will pay it. Let me know if you ever need help. Im not a pro at this at all, but burned my eyes out reading and watching quite a bit so I know a thing or two. Im still learning much, but do know what to watch for and what you should see in person rather than buying online. I got some cheap meteorites in the classifieds, good little starters. Lots of dealers sell things online, just be careful.

Now go spend your money lmao, jk, take care man, and I know, I got too many hobbies too lol.
