Nice fish, love the aquascaping on the full tank shot

Looks like a Satanoperca leucosticta, and I'd recommend moving it.

They need sand, do much better in shoals of at least 4 specimens, and are very peaceful fish. Flowerhorns, Gold Saums and Red Devils are far from peaceful. They're also very slow growers, so even though he might be 'surviving' or 'fairing' reasonably decently now, 3-4 months down the track it will be a different story.

How do you tell the difference between leucosticta and jurupari? I have a 40g tank I just bought, and am getting ready to cycle it. I plan on putting less aggressive fish in that one. It will most likely end up in there.

nice fish. Check out some of my monsters in this same media lounge Boricua!

Leucosticta have a spotted gillplate whereas the jurupari are mostly plain or very sublte speckling. They'll also need at least a 48x15" footprint minimum, and as I mentioned earlier, are best kept in groups of at least 4, so I can't recommend a 40G.

Thanks for all the comments. This is my first tank and fish, and I'm in love with my new hobby. I think my PS3 misses me. LOL

I would love to put it in a bigger tank, but I don't have room in my tiny apartment for another tank bigger than 48". My wife's already about to kill me with the ones I have now. I'm planning on getting a bigger place within the next year, at which time I want to get a 150-200g setup.

You've honestly picked the wrong fish for your living situations then, Devils and Flowerhorns shouldn't even be kept in a 4 foot setup.

I'm aware that my fish are going to outgrow the tank I have them in eventually, but like I said I plan on getting a way bigger tank. Imo I don't think they'll grow out my tank by that time. If they do and I'm unable to get a bigger setup, I will do the responsible thing and find them a happy home. The last thing I want is for my fish to suffer! But I do appreciate your input, and understand where your coming from.
