Some pics of our Green snooks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
These are very beautiful. I have one at about 3". I had two but one had a problem with its mouth being locked open. I tried to help it but I couldn't. So I definitely want another one. Is there a way to sex them at a small size or do they have to be pretty big to differenciate?

We can sex them very easy, like I said, they are 6-9 inch", you can see the difference at that size. Most of them are out my house by this coming weekend, here are couple pics of my show fish Green Snook, he came from same group.
Thank you!

Yes, I understand. The reason I asked about the size that the Snooks can be sexed is because I wondered what mine actually was, male or female. It is much smaller than yours. Are there any characterisitics other than size that I should look for; color, finnage, shape?

i think with the spots you are able to sex, males have more than females, especially on their faces and fins

I agree with Dan-ye, very non aggressive and spawn easily. Think Red Snook behavior and temperament. No real difference that I've seen. They really are cool fish and Dan-ye's are about the size where they really start to color up.

The 2nd set of pics is our 13"+ male Showfish -
(from the same batch of Green Snooks shown first)

He won first in class 2010 ACA Milwaukee!

They are great-looking Mellow Cichlids, would be nice in a large community tank...
