Yeah circumstantial though some what impressive. That was the Beani's tank and turf. Dropping another big bad fish in there and having it get hammered on before it can properly acclimate and adjust you can get the same effect vis versa with all those species. I've seen African cichlids beat the sh*# out of Flowerhorn, Oscars and many other large cichlids under the same circumstances.

Beanis are no joke, and really near the top of all aggressive cichlids. Flowerhorns and Oscars are not nearly as aggressive. A butti would be the most aggressive and one of the largest African sp. Usually they cannot be kept with anything period.

I was always told, be careful with beani they bloat. They cant be stressed, people hate trying them because they never work. I got my first beani at 1" over the summer. Hes horrible, he killed some other growouts and was moved into a large tank with fish twice his size (dovii, dovii hybrid, grammode, flowehorn, red texas hybrids) and I cant believe for his size how aggressive beani really are. Right now hes got to be 2.5" with an attitude. Ive never seen something start out this aggressive at this size.

I have had luck with feeding algae wafers or veggie based foods to bloat prone sp. I'm not sure if a beani would except that, or if anyone else has had luck. If you have ideal water conditions and no stress seem to be the best for preventing bloat IMO. I agree that 2.5'' is small for a CA to be aggressive.

Yeah right lol they are aggressive I will give you that but Butti can be kept with many fish so long as you got space. I kept a 14'' er for years with tons of fish including a FH they are not that crazy although they will stand up for themselves well

Extremely aggressive and hyperactive fish not the best combination
