Gts are omnivorous, wild specimens have been shown to have up to 30% vegetable matter in their diet. Feeding a diet too high in protein is not natural for them and the food can start to decay before it's completely digested. Some meat protein is fine and necessary but you must include vegetables in their diet. When the food rots before it's digested the gut is overwhelmed by a proliferation of bacteria what you see as white poop is the lining of the digestive system not IPs. Garlic helps to acidify the gut and reduce this bacterial bloom. Vegetable based foods are easier for GTs to digest and helps keep things moving along. Try adding some veggies (Omega One Super Veggie Pellets is a great food for them) and eliminating the Tilapia and carni sticks. Bio-gold is good for them too. See if this helps.

All my fish, with the exception of my betta are feed foods pretty high in vegetable matter. This little girl, my big mean midevil, my loner peacock cichlid, the catfish, the barbs... And I've never had digestive issues. In theory all omnivorous cichlids will do fine on a veggie based pellet because even those pellets have some animal protein source so there shouldn't be a diet deficiency problem.

If shes getting nls algae max then things should be fine! Yes GTs get a surprising amount of vegetable/plant matter in their wild diet but with what youre feeding, things should
Be fine, just fatten her up a bit once she truly is settled in to the new surroundings. Post some pics of her a month from now! Green terrors are a favorite of mine and though the females stay a bit smaller, i love
Their coloration as they mature, especially all the blue/green on the gill plate. Good luck!

the fish get mysis shrimp and brine shrimp often too. i try to keep their diets pretty varied but mostly green.
im hoping she gets super green cheeks! dont worry, there will be updates lol

Keep posting updates every now and then so we know how she's doing! Love the look of mature GT's.

Cute, watch for white poop, I think I see some in the 3rd pic. With GTs it's not always IPs they need a diet higher in vegetable matter more like and African go easy on the meaty foods. A good pellet like NLS Thera A+ and Omega One Super Veggie pellets is a good diet for young GTs.

It took me so long to figure this out. I must have treated my make GT 3 or 4 times for IPs before switching him to a more appropriate diet. I fed NLS only and only noticed the white poop sometimes. After incorporating a little veggie based food I haven't seen it since.
