Some Polypterus Ornatipinnis coloration help

Nope, the 2nd pic was taken when I placed my ornate in a 5g bucket for an hour when I had to drill my cabinet. He freaked out and turned white. But he gets his black colour back once I place him back in the tank and he starts to calm down.

So i'm assuming your ornate is just feeling unsecure.

I should give him more time? he is a hider, but feeding time he comes and starts to chomp on as much as he can and than goes back to hiding. also randomly comes out of the blue.

Nope, he is the 2nd biggest in there. and the lap(biggest) is the most peaceful in the tank. I had a bigger weeksi, that big one used to pick on him and the endli a little. He is gone now. I guess I'll had more hiding spots and see where that goes. THANKS!
