Really you'll need a 75gal for the ropes otherwise no other bichirs and yes Ornates will get bigger than 20" it may take 3 years but a 180 is bare minimum for any poly larger than 12" IMO
Thanks for the reply! Alright. I will reiterate that again my ropes will be on their own in an upgraded 50 gallons for the moment, and perhaps another upgrade when they grow to the needed 75. Now, I suppose that based on spwd's comments, I am able to place in a 50 gallon, either a pair of delhezis or perhaps a delhezi and maybe three more senegals? Would that be appropriate?
This is what i would do. I would just get the 75 gallon and put the ropefish in there along with some baby ornate, delhezi, palmas etc. Then as the bichirs start to grow I would go and get 180 gallon for them all, if they have been raised and well feed with the other ropefish chances are that they will not eat them because they wont see them as a food source. Just put plenty of hiding spots for them all as i notice with my bichirs they like to have 2 spots of there own.
Ooooooh, MTS and bichirs, he's toast.
They are very addictive. I started with a Senegal as a tankmate for my African Brown Knife. Now I have 3 Senegals and am cycling an 85 gallon that I eventually intend to try breeding some palmas variant in.
