a friend of mine bought one of my CB motoro pup from me.. He made the mistake to not cover the heater.. Here is a picture of the serious damage a heater can cause.
You can see INTO her "rib's" when she breathes you can see into some small holes. This is the worst burn i have ever saw. It happened over the weekend he said and has salt in the tank @ 2.5lbs per 100 gallons, do you think it is enough salt? Is there any suggestions i can give him to help out this baby?

I did watch the ray eat and it seemed fine, ate a bunch and seemed active.

i did not have my camera so i used my cell phone, the pictures do it no justice to how bad it is.

I've read that they are particularly sensitive to heater burn. In my tank I have blocked off a corner of the tank with driftwood and fake plants. It would be very difficult if not impossible for the ray to get anywhere near the heater.

how was the heater positioned in the tank??? tell him to salt it real good and it will heal in no time..

it was suctioned cupped to the side. He made a heater guard out of pvc for the time being.. Luckily the ray was in excellent health, and eats very good.

Another benefit of the sump filter... No heater burns xD.

looks like it somehow made it in between the glass and the heater... first thing i did on my pup tank... move the heaters to hang off the center brace.... there is no way for them to stay on them... not the prettiest thing ... but it def gets the job done

That is actually a really good idea for a non show tank.

That burn looks nasty though. Good thing its in good health
