some serious heater burns....

a friend of mine bought one of my CB motoro pup from me.. He made the mistake to not cover the heater.. Here is a picture of the serious damage a heater can cause.
You can see INTO her "rib's" when she breathes you can see into some small holes. This is the worst burn i have ever saw. It happened over the weekend he said and has salt in the tank @ 2.5lbs per 100 gallons, do you think it is enough salt? Is there any suggestions i can give him to help out this baby?

I did watch the ray eat and it seemed fine, ate a bunch and seemed active.

i did not have my camera so i used my cell phone, the pictures do it no justice to how bad it is.

Ray will be fine salt level is perfect keep it there for two weeks so no infection sets in. It will take a long time to heal could be 2-3 months or longer to fully heal.

That is a strange place to get burned. The heater must be spaced far off the tank wall. I have submersible heater in my QT tank but it is turned sideways at the top back under the outlet of my power filters. Maybe I should try turkeys idea to be safe.
