Some slang words from different countries :)

lol u dont actually need to use any of those words lol, its a bit like putting 'bro' in lol.


erm, we use (all fairly obvious, but what people get stuck on when im in the US)

bloke/fella = man
knickers = panties
trousers = what they should b lol
loo = bathroom
setee/sofa = couch
kini = 2 piece swimsuit
cheers = thanks
lift = elevator
hoover = vacuum cleaner
chav = population of people generally between the ages of 12-27, usually of a lower class and wear obviously fake brand names and just looks skanky. think their hardnuts and they arnt.
hardnut = someone thats in a fight wherever they go and always wins, usually a nutjob.
nutjob = a general nutter.
nutter = mental.
wicked = good
bad = good (chav speak)
mental = good
insane = good

we seem to use 'mate' even if we dont know them or are having a disagreement with someone we dont know.

I've also heard:

torch - flashlight
boot - car trunk
bonnet - car hood
chips - french fries
mac - raincoat

i don't know if brit flicks are invading the u.s. but none of the ones chloe brought up were new to me. I've even watched a few u.k. rap battles and they sound cool with their accents.

Heres some trucker slang (US):

CHicken coop- Scalehouse along the interstate where trucks are pulled in and weighed and possibly put out of service if the truck fails inspection

Bear- police

Shootin ya in the back- a "bear" hidden off the interstate with a radar gun checking speed

Suicide jockey- A truck driver hauling explosives

Go Go Juice- Diesel fuel

Driver- A term truckers call each other on the cb

Large car- A nice rig, mainly a Peterbilt or Kenworth

Reefer- A refrigerated trailer

Gator- A blown tire or retread in the road

Slangs like that I'd get confused... I always think of it as potato chips.

Ninja Punch - Non Judicial Punishment (NJP)
I actually just learned this term from some of the younger Marines. I thought it was hilarious. Not really a nationality thing, in fact Im pretty sure its specific to the Marines. Someone actually asked me "Did he get ninja punched for going UA?" and I had no idea what he meant.
