Here are some Smallies I caught this summer in Lake St. Claire, MI. Caught these both in a 60ft deep shipping channel on bottom bouncers with night crawlers.

Great fish. I finally found the Smallmouths in our lake. I'm 28 and hadn't caught one until this summer. The first time I hooked into one, I thought I had hooked a huge pike. I was excited to see the fish that had avoided me for so long. I have great respect for the power of the Smallmouth Bass. True Monster.
I thought I had snagged a log or something when I caught the bigger one. The drag just exploded into a high-pitched whine. I thought my reel was going to melt. I slammed the boat into reverse, swearing about how much I hated fishing the channel (to my cousin) . Then I felt it... That fish gave me one of the best fights EVER!
haha wow this is funny. this summer i went fishing at lake st. claire almost every week. my cousin lives in gross point and we would fish while canoeing....always had a damn good time too. caught alot of bass. why were you fishing here? just visiting family or sumthin?
